MONTHLY MEETINGS - 2012
Our General Meetings are held at Dublin Street United Church on the 4th Tuesday of the month. Unless otherwise stated, meetings start at 7:30 p.m. for the Basic Gardening Demo and the Mini Show with the Speaker starting at 8:00 p.m. You are welcome to come to a meeting and 'check us out'.
JANUARY: Tuesday 24th.
The Society's Annual General Meeting and Elections will start at 7:45 p.m.
Speaker - Our speaker for the evening will be Perry Grobe, owner of Grobe Nursery Ltd. He will present "Stress Free Gardening" and give us tips, tricks and new ideas to deal with plant stress in the garden. Perry will also give us an early peek at what is new for spring.
FEBRUARY: Tuesday 28th, 8:00 p.m.
Speaker - Guest speaker Sonia Day is a lifelong gardener and well known gardening columnist for the Toronto Star. She will share her gardening ideas in her presentation "Veggies for Small Spaces". Sonia will bring copies of her new book which will be available for sale.
Bus Trip to Canada Blooms and Home Show, Friday, March 16.
MARCH: Tuesday 27nd, 6:30 p.m.
POT LUCK SUPPER. Bring a hot or cold dish or desert, your utensils, plate and cup.
Awards will be presented.
Speaker - Our guest speakers are Ann Legault and John Heiter. In 1999 Ann and John began Avalon Gardens in Palmerston. They grow an estimated 4000 varieties of trees, shrubs and perennials. They will be sharing their years of horticultural knowledge with us in their presentation "Top Ten Signs You Maybe A Plant Addict".
APRIL: Tuesday 24th.

Mini Flower Show. Please bring your entries before 7:30 p.m.
Speaker - Tom Bradley is our guest speaker. Tom has over twenty years of experience in the horticultural sciences, with a degree in Plant Protection from U. of G. In his presentation he will discuss "Common Plant Pests and their Control".
MAY: Tuesday 22nd.

Mini Flower Show. Please bring your entries before 7:30 p.m.
Speaker - Guest speakers are Ann and Bob Granatier who own and operate "Trails End Iris Gardens". Their presentation "Irises - Nature's Rainbow Flower" will cover all aspects of growing bearded irises. They will have potted irises for sale.
Society Plant Sale, Guelph Farmers' Market, Saturday, May 5th, 7:00 a.m. - noon.
JULY: Sunday 8th, 1:00 - 5:30 p.m. Society Garden Tour - "Garden Showcase".
Saturday 14th, Society Flower Show. Held at Old Quebec Street Mall. All entries to be received between 8- 9 a.m. and picked up between 3-4 p.m. Those entering please read your society yearbook for schedule.
SEPTEMBER: Tuesday 25th.

Speaker - Guest speaker Ann Diebel, a well known floral designer, instructor and judge, who will use our mini show schedule to demonstrate various flower designs. Come and learn from her presentation "Designing for a Flower Show".
OCTOBER: Tuesday 23rd.

Speaker - Guest speaker Heather Lekx, farm manager at Ignatious Jesuit Center in Guelph, will present "Community Garden Plots at Ignatious Farm" and share ioformation about the community shared agriculture and garden plots program.
NOVEMBER: Tuesday 27th. Penny Table 7:00 p.m. General Meeting 8:00 p.m.
PENNY TABLE. We start with your donation to the Penny Table. You put tickets on the items we wish to win. At the end of the evening we draw for these items.
Speaker - Guest speaker Mitchell Hewson will discuss nurturing mind, body and soul through horticulture and alternative therapies. In his presentation "Psycho-Aromatherapy" we will learn about the therapeutic effect of essential oils. He will bring some of his products.
